![]() I have an old Melex 212. I have installed new batteries and solenoid. It will fly on level ground or downhill. However when going uphill it slows considerably and struggles. I have checked resistor coils and all contacts are good. The only thing is that two of the cables running to the coils are hard as rock. Could this be the problem? Any help will be appreciated.

![]() Hardened cables is a good indication that they are filled with corrosion which is resistance which hampers their ability to deliver amperage...... but that being said. Electric carts do tend to slow as much as 50% when climbing hills...

![]() make sure you replace them with high strand count welding wire and not low strand count 12v battery cable.
![]() Of course any new cable is better than an old resistive POS cable ![]() |

![]() Depending upon the age and usage of the cart you could also be looking at worn brushes as a cause of poor performance.
