97 cc 36v vglide conversion

Extreme newbie here. Have a 97 CC 36V. I haul a 10 ft aluminum jon boat approx 1 mile round trip on a garden wagon to several ponds ner my home and have recently had some electrical trouble. The 4th contact on my vglide assembly keeps getting burnt up. Resistor coils look original and pretty corroded. I intend to convert all the wiring to 4 ga, but having trouble finding a thread that addresses converting to a controller type setup while avoiding a 48v conversion. Would like to loose the vglide and the coils and keep the 36v setup because batts are fairly new. Is this possible? Have $500-$600 to spend and would just like to get this thing set up to haul a little more payload. Sorry for the long winded explanation, but any help is greatly appreciated.

you should be able to do it but i can,t tell you the cost......i know a good relable controller ( and your gonna want a stronger one for hauling ) might set you back 400.00 to 500.00 dollars and than the other stuff you,ll need........might i suggest that since your gonna upgrade to 4 gage cables start there you have to make sure you do all of them not just battery cables anything 6 gage take it out replace it.......buy yourself a roll of good 4 gage cable a bag of ends and most important is when your crimping them do a good job there................take 1 cable off at a time measure it and cut your new one.............doing them 1 at a times takes longer but eliminates any mistakes..........pull your resistor coils off and wire brush them and all surfaces and make sure all your speed solenoids are working.......its hard to tell if 4 speed isn,t working because you really don,t feel any jerking when driving the cart and going from 3rd to 4th..........theres nothing wrong with your setup other than your when you upgrade like you want i don,t think it can be done right with 600.00.....................keep us informed and remember we are here to try and help....................................

Completely possible to do , but I dunno about that budget ........ you need a multi-step conversion kit for the V glide $130 and a NPX 300 amp controller. $330.... Plus misc. solenoid and wiring..... Close to what you are asking 4 Now if you need a new V-glide it will be more.

I appreciate both of your input. The vglide assembly is brand new so it can be reused. I could probably afford another couple hundred dollars ($600-$800 total) if necesary to ensure a reliable setup for what I need to do. Sorry I couldn't search the threads more thoroughly before posting, but I'm dead in the water and need my cart to escape from my wife! lol

Should I consider another speed controller other than the vglide or would that be too pricey? If so what kind of setup would you reccomend?

best way to put it is buy what you can afford so the sheriff dosn,t hand you divorce papers.......most important thing and biggest investment is going to be your controller so do somereserch and if yout gonna use the cart other thna normal driving than by all means get a bigger higher amp controller than you need ......something in the 400 to 600 amp range.......wait for a few of therse other cartheads to jump in they really know much more and might be able to save you a few hundred bucks................good luck just don,t put yourself in the doghouse over it, if your only gonna pull that jon boat 400 amp is plenty but look down the road a bit might you decide to pull something heavier ? or on hills.....but for just the boat i would start by just doing the cables and see if that makes you happy you can do that without swapping controllers....................................... ...

Blue and green go to micro switch and the black and white both have splits in them with round plug connectors (female ends) the blue wire from micro has a male rpc, the green has a female spade connector. The black wire also has what looks like a diode??? or something wired inline.

Without color you have to know what wire goes from where to where and why
