Diode......why it looks like that who knows. If you can re-use it do it. Some run without them some dont.

Thanks Roady..again
any thoughts on the white square piece in the picture in the second post?
It has 2 wires and they go to the big posts on the solenoid---red wire to one side, black wire to the other

May be a resistor of sorts.....If it is again some use them some don't....Just google the info on that tag....You'll soon find out what it is? It looks voltage sensitive......whatever it is.....

I was searching around the net and it appears to have something to do with the charger. My old 36V charger was a lester charger, and the piece is called a "snubber" but I havent found what it does exactly. Remember I went from 36 to 48V so do you think I need it? I now have a schauer 48V 15A autocharger/maintainer. seems to be working Ok with it in there...but what the heck is it?? LOL

Its used to suppress transient voltage. It's not a factory part so no.....you shouldn't need it. It helps to protect from overvoltage spikes.....it shouldn't be on there. That might explain the crazy diode.

well the "snubber" says 36V and from what I saw on the net it was a voltage suppressor of some sort used with chargers, so since I have gone to 48V, and a smarter chartger, am I to think its OK to remove both pieces? I mean all you guys running 48V dont have that extra crap on your solenoids right? just the basic 4 wire set up?

No, no one has those parts on their cart but you. Chances are before you bought it some weirdo electrical code freak thought it needed it. Neither the snubber nor "that" diode needs to be there.
