36volt resistor cart to a 48volt?
I have come into a free 86 EZGO resistor style cart that I would like to fix up and play around with. It is in great shape physically. I need to purchase new batteries anyway so I had thought about going on and getting 8 volt batteries instead of 6 volt to make it a 48 volt setup. I had also thought about upgrading the cables to at least 2-4 gauge. My question is, will I see a difference in speed or torque by doing this? Will I have to change anything else on the cart other than batteries and cables? I have read where the resistors will handle up to 48 volts without no problems.
My next question is, I would like to tie a seperate 12 volt battery inline and have it activated by a switch at only wide open throttle to give it alittle more speed. I would very seldom use this so I'm not looking for a boost everytime I get on the cart to ride normal. Can this be done and if so, how is tha tbest way to wire in series to gain the 12 extra volts? Thanks in advance, Jason |

You will also benefit in upgrading to a 48v solenoid.....

If your keeping the resistor style speed control and want to boost PM Nate. He has a circuit to do just what you want to do. If you want to boost useing a controller then look here. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/extre...ler-boost.html Also...you can expect 20-25% increase in overall power and torque by upgrading to 48 volts. Yes you should invest in a 48 volt solenoid. I have used 36 volt solenoids...some last and some don't. |
