Default EZ Go Electric Cart Identification

Greetings,
I am new to all of this as we bought a cart to provide transportation in the campground we have our trailer at. We bought an electric EZ Go cart that was manufactured in 1996. Is there a way to tell from the serial number the type of cart or model (TXT, Fleet, etc) our EZ Go is? I know it is a 36 volt cart. We think we got a good deal as the cart is in good shape (with a top) with a new automatic charger - all for $700.00. The seller said the batteries are 2 or 3 years old. Outside of this information, I know little about the cart other than it runs well. Any pointers are appreciated.
Thank you much,
<///><

In 96 as far as GOLF carts go, there was the TXT (plastic body) and the Medalist (metal body). Then the choices are DCS or non DCS (fleet car) If it has a small toggle switch on the cover of the controller it's a DCS. There are diagrams of the different controllers in the sticky thread about basic cart wiring. I believe i'm right about this but I don't remember the years things change on electric carts so I may be alittle off. You got a real good deal on that cart.

Thanks for the information, ruredy. My pa always told me that the only stupid question is the one not asked but what is DCS?

Thanks again,

It stands for Drive Control System, NON DCS(fleet cars) just use power from the batteries to run the motor
DCS are more complex systems that use different types of motors that can generate power to put back into the system. These were replaced with the PDS "Precision Drive System"
