Golf cart died!!!!
My 3 wheeled ezgo crapped out while delivering papers, i came up a hill and stopped, but when i hit the gas a bunch of smoke came out near the f/r switch.I ended up pulling it home with the 4 wheeler and luckily didn't get caught by the police.Anybody know why it might of done this? The cables seemed o.k. and nothing looked burnt, but now it wont move.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
Did any of the cables look burned? What about a positive wearing down and touching the frame? That"s happened to me.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
My ('85 electric) cart doesn't have either positive or negative grounded to the chassis, so one pole accidentally touching it would not cause a problem unless the other pole also shorted to the chassis at the same time. This was why I had to take positive and negative leads to the lights and charge meter, and not use the chassis as a conductor.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
Check the F/R switch contacts and see if they are burnt.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
Would a f/r switch all of a sudden go out? It switched before this with no problems.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
it could all the sudden short due to weakening... Sort of like a tetonic(sp?) plate all the sudden slips and causes an earth quake..

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
The FNR is prolly pretty old, so I would guess along the lines of burnt contacts with Roady.

Re: Golf cart died!!!!
almost, it's a matter of making sure those 4 wires get back to where they belong, and not getting the little wires on the micros mixed up...
Other than that its really just one or two nuts on the shaft that holds the cam and board together... |
