Default Couple questions about charging???

I have a 92 electric ezgo, and was wondering if the key is left on, is it pulling any power off the batteries?

second, I went to charge my new batteries for the first time as I was told to do so when I got home with the new batteries by the dealer; he said they are only at 80%. I put the charger on and the charger never kicked off, 10 hours later it was still humming as if it was still charging. Now, this is a cart that I purchased unworking. I had to put new controller and batteries in it. The meter on the charger was near 0 when I finally unplugged it. The charger states it would cut off when at full charge. I just really would have expected the charger would have been off after such a long charge. Any pointers much appreciated.

That sounds normal to me for a first time charge of new batteries. Plug charger back up and let it finish. I assume you have no reason to suspect a charger malfunction otherwise.

12 hours after charger shuts off check pack voltage with a digital meter. Should be 38.2-38.4 to verify full charge.

I agree with kernal, I have had mine go for a lot longer, but I have a digital volt read out and it kicks off at the same point regardless of the length of time.

Battery Break-in Procedures
Brand new batteries are approximately 70 to 75% charged so once they are installed (correctly) the 1st 10 to 12
complete charge/discharge cycles are as follows:
1. Plug charger in and leave it alone until charger shuts off by itself then drive cart to about 50% battery life
and plug back in and repeat charge cycle.
2. Very important you leave it charge until it’s completely done! This is what you want to do 10 to 12 times
......by the 12th time you’ll notice a difference in power/speed and runtime.
3. That’s the break in period pretty simple wouldn’t you say..........while doing this keep an eye on water level
as I have seen it take 16 hours or better the 1st few times as they break in you’ll notice charge time gets less
also.
4. After that the 2nd most important thing is maintaining the batteries........very critical you get into a routine
of spending a whole 20 minutes a few times a month to keep things in good/clean and tight condition to get
a lot more time out of your batteries.
