Default another problem

I have checked the fuel pump, cleaned
the carb(made a huge difference), and
changed the spark plug. I have fresh mixed
gas in the tank. problem started today. while
cart is running, all of a sudden it stops like
I turned off the key. if I ease off the gas pedal.
and push on it again, it will spool back up,
and run great until it does it again, and again.
1985 ezgo two stroke. thanks for any help.

When you say press again after dieing does it immediately fire or take a bunch of cranking to restart?

A bunch of cranking might be a fuel restriction, plugged tank vent, stuck float. Taking time to fill carb back up.

Starts right up Sounds like a bad wire to or from the micro switch or a bad switch or a failing solenoid.
Hook a test light up to the solenoid power out and see if it goes out when it dies.
If it does next hook it up to the leads on solenoid that go to the micro switch. If those go out its a wiring micro switch issue.
If they dont go out its a solenoid.

If the light never goes out it could be a bad ignitor heating up and quitting.
Hook up a timing light and see if it quits when still turning over but engine dead.

sorry for the late reply. been under the weather
for the last few weeks. it was a bad solenoid.
thank you for the help. I think I am going to try
to upgrade the engine. not too fond of the old
two stroke.

Thanks for replying back with the remedy. A lot of the people with issues on here seem to look for help, receive it, then do not fill in the blanks.
