Default Electric Golf Cart Wiring Issues

I have recently been given a golf cart that does not go. Given I am in between projects, the timing was perfect.

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with this cart and a wiring diagram would help greatly. Unfortunately, so far I have not been able to locate one so I am hoping someone on this forum might be able to help.

The cart is made by Jiangxi Hongdu as shown on the compliance plate. I have checked the web for these guys and have emailed them but so far no luck.

As I have been going through the wiring, I have found numerous issues like brocken limit switches, dodgey wiring, incorrect wiring etc which I have fixed but there are still some areas of which I have no idea.

From what I can see, it looks like the diode on the solenoid is installed back to front, can anyone confirm this. (See picture)

I am also not sure about the wiring between the forward/reverse switch and the speed controller (I think that is what the little black box is on the right of the photo)

There also a few wires going nowhere which a schematic would probably sort out.

If anyone could shed some light on the brand of this cart and a possible wiring diagram, it would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

Thanks Epb. I think the gadget on the right has something to do with the directional control. Direction on this cart is selected by a switch (see pic of the control panel, it is the switch in the centre between the key and the battery monitor

An idea get the model number of controller and search that so you know the inputs and outputs. Then look at the wiring diagrams of the big three that fit that controller.

Hey dalob, welcome to bgw...missed it the first and second time. I would look at the club car section stickies under wiring diagrams for a precedent and see what matches mismatches. This is the prob with an offshoot china car....the good thing is they need + & -, voltage, activation, throttle input, controller and motor working.
that other part is reversing contactor if op by a switch.
i looked up google and nada!

Found this http://www.golfcarcatalog.com/golf-c...ted-or-series/

to try and determine how the forward and reverse switch works. Thought I had a separately excited motor/controller but the terminals on the motor look like a series wound motor. The cables match too.

I am guessing at this point is the black box opposite the motor controller does the job of a manual forward/rev switch as shown in picture posted by Crash Test Dummy based on receiving a voltage to the grey or orange wire from the switch
