There are only two ways to get gas into the engine.
Through the carburetor, or through a ruptured diaphragm in the fuel pump. Disconnect the line leading into the pump. Spin in over real good to dry it out, then throw a new plug in. See if it tries to fire. |

If I pull the air filter tube off gas is coming out the back of the carb when trying to start

That is a sign of the reed valves not closing. Pull the carb off. Put your hand over the intake, and spin it. You should only feel suction. No blowing. You could also tie a short piece of string onto the intake. Watch which direction it moves while turning over. |

Got it running with a fuel shut off valve turned on half way.
