Shock & spring are one unit, not sold seperately.

cgtech.. I haven't really looked into my shocks yet off my G2, but will they separate to clean and paint the springs and shock bodies?

Yes you can, but be careful. There is alot of energy stored that can really hurt you.

DareDog I have what used to be a fleet cart 2011 YDRA. I have since changed out both front and rear shocks/springs. I used OEM parts from Yamaha except I installed the Jakes heavy duty springs in the rear as I have the rear seat/cargo setup in the back. Without the heavy duty springs in the rear with two adults in the rear seat this thing rode like a trailer with too much weight in the rear and not enough tongue weight, ( all over the road). The heavy duty springs, 20lbs of air in the rear tires (what they are rated for) and some homemade spacers to stiffen up the front springs and a steering dampener I installed, I can keep it on the road now. In the process of changing out the shock/springs that came on the cart (OEM), I thought they were worn out also. When the new shocks assemblies came in and I started changing things over (heavy duty springs and spacers) I noticed that the new OEM shocks weren’t and different/stiffer than the ones I just took off. These carts were designed for the golf course and not how we want to use them (four passengers/off road) so OEM shock assemblies are not the answer. The long travel front ends with real performance shocks/springs and heavy duty springs in the rear will probably be the answer. Good Luck.

Robert

PS you will need a spring compressor, and if you go to my public profile page and look at my photo album you can see some examples.

Thanks for the replies.. I see in LimitedEdition public profile pics that you need to compress the springs and remove washer/clip from the top half to get the springs off the shock bodies.

LimitedEdition.. love the spring compressor you made, very nice!
