Re: Rear shock springs?
took my front shocks in to work today and made a spring compressor that I copied from one of the the guys in here, after getting apart I find that there is no compression or rebound on the shock bodies themselves.. AKA Junk.
so what is my next choice for shocks? I have a 86 G2 that I am rebuilding from the frame up.. I plan on going with a 6" lift kit, here's another dilemma do I use a single A arm lift or a double A arm lift? I don't have any plans for any offroading the cart. It will be used for the campgrounds or for here at home. Is the extra $100 worth/necessary for the double A arm? Any suggestions will be gladly accepted. |

Re: Rear shock springs?
Max, if the shocks are not leaking, they are fine for a golf cart!! May have to shim them tho!!

Re: Rear shock springs?
Mac, I am taking your advice on the shocks. Both fronts are the same no compression or rebound with the springs off. Both the rears have no compression, but do have some rebound. I personally believe that the shocks are just using the springs as that..a spring. Like you said should be good enough for a golf cart riding around the campgrounds.

Re: Rear shock springs?
If your talking about the inside of the shock( not the spring) those will not rebound, only resist movement
Single a arm is good to 20-25 mph, dbl looks better and is safer in every way |

Re: Rear shock springs?
Yes talking about the shock bodies (no Springs) front's have neither compression or rebound. This is controlled by oil and valving done to the pistons inside the shock. Feels like to me that there is no oil inside the shock bodies..but that's only a guess.
Well camp does have a speed limit of 10 mph..Lol |

DareDog
Is the black shock in your photo the Yamaha HD shock? Is it longer than the stock shock? How stiff does it ride compared to stock? I'm trying to figure out what combination to use on a cart which will stay essentially stock except for adding a back seat. Thanks Alan |

Yamaha HD shocks. Never ran the stock shocks and springs on it. Compared to jakes springs it rides a lot better. Now feel and hear rear suspension working.
