6in lift engine orientation

When you folks do a 6in lift on your cart, what does that do to the angle the engine sits in the mount? Doesn't it change the way the oil level reads in the engine and transmission? Will it affect the oil pick up or return? Does it affect the carb float? I'm mulling the idea for my cart ('92 DS) and I know people have been doing it for quite a while. I haven't come across any posts where people have to make corrections for these conditions. Just curious.

My 92 ds has 6 in. Lift. Runs great. Only thing you have to remember when checking Oil it should be half way between full and low.

When I lifted mine I lowered the cradle in front to level it out a bit.

I put a piece of square steel in as a spacer to lower it in front.

That's an interesting idea Springbok. What is the height of that piece of square stock?

It's height is 2". I didn't check the level of the motor before I lifted it, but with the geometry of the lift, I think the 2" spacer gets it pretty close. Been running it now for over three years. I keep the oil level up as it reads on the dipstick as if it was never lifted.

Thanks for the info.That's an awesome idea. Looks you just ran two long bolts straight through the factory tang, square stock and new tang? When I get around to my lift I will definately look into this modification.

I didn't add a new tang. The older carts already have the two bolts and the tang is removable. All I added was the square stock and longer bolts. If your tang is the newer (non-adjustable) style, you just have to take some extra steps. Lockman1 has the newer style and lowered his. He has a good photo of the method he used.

Unfortunately, 92 to 96 had the snubber bracket that is welded to the engine pan, (at least it was with my buddies 94)
He ground off the welds. and reshaped a new extended bracket, and welded that one into place.

I've also seen where some guys bolted a box below the frame for the existing snubber bracket!
The first thing I would recommend NOT doing is, cutting off the existing mount, and bolting a new bracket through the engine pan tube,
It will weaken the tube, and it will eventually break at the bolt holes!

Thanks Locman1. All good ideas. I will look at mine a little closer to see how it's set up next time I'm at the camp ground. I do know my snubber doesn't look like that anymore. It is gonna need replaced as well.
