Default 99 g16 fuel pump

I have a 99 g16 that won't start. It is getting spark to the plug but has very very little fuel in the inline fuel filter. I sprayed a little starting fluid in the carb and it started to run. I'm figuring it's the fuel pump. Should I be able to feel some suction from the hose
going to the inline filter? I feel nothing at all now. When I bought the cart a few years ago, the previous owner said the fuel pump was replaced recently with an aftermarket pump. Thanks for any help.

In my experience fuel pump failure is very rare. Check the pulse line from the engine crankcase to the fuel pump, check the accelerator cable & governor cable to be sure the actually open the carb butterfly.

Use a pop bottle and gravity feed the carb

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully it won't take much to get it going again.
