got it running tonight. Runs and drives pretty good for as ugly as it is. How exactly does the choke work? Its not even connected?

The choke is similar to the setup on your '98. There's a large, circular black button behind your left knee that restricts airflow coming in. The choke mechanism isn't deployed on the carb throttle like most chokes on cars, it's all done right there at the air intake. Maybe you're missing the piece(s) that connect that button to the carburetor? Let's see a pic of your motor.

getting out of work early today. Going to try to put it all back together. it was apart when i got it and it looks to be a bit different from my 98. I'll post some pics.

Looks like the previous owner installed too tall of a battery but this is what i have.



Grabbed another one today for a 100

I think a Group 70 battery is what these carts take. I have an Interstate in mine. But yeah if that tall battery is keeping your air intake from being assembled correctly, your choke won't work.

So i think i understand it now. The chock assembly just blocks airflow when depressesd? I was thinking more of a traditional setup with moving parts, linkage etc.

i think the battery in my 98 is shorter. I'm going to try to swap them in the morning.
