Default 1997 EX GO TXT Noise From Clutch or Rear End?

Hey guys, forum lurker and rarely post but I've recently encountered an issue on my '97 TXT.

It's got the 295 Engine in it. The cart loses power going up hills, almost like it floods out. Also you can hear what sounds like someone sticking metal into a metal fan randomly. It's not consistent. Initially I thought it may be a rear end issue since that is what it sounded like. BUT, it also makes the noise when in neutral. So I thought maybe something came lose in one of the clutches if that is even possible. The inability of the cart to make it up a hill combined with the noise makes me think it could be clutch related.

I am not very familiar with these carts, but am very mechanically inclined. Curious if you guys might have some insight.

How long has it been since you replaced the ramps in the clutch?

Did the noise and power issue start at the same time??

Have you had this cart for a while? So you know its down on power?

Sounds like to different issues to me.

Never have done anything to the clutch. I've had the cart for several years with no issues. The bogging down on power and noises all came at the same time.

I would be willing to bet its a clutch issue. 20 years on a clutch can take its toll.

I have a similar issue with a 95 that runs smooth and we'll. Just takes a while to get up to speed and slight inclines are a no go. Driven clutch is rebuilt. Any ideas?
