Default 1990 Club Car DS Gas Running Rich

Hello,

After driving for more than 10 mins or so my car starts running rich, especially when going downhill.

So far this is what I've done:

- New carb
- New fuel pump
- New fuel lines
- New fuel filters
- I washed the fuel tank pretty good.

After all that, it runs a bit better, but it starts bogging down again when going downhill. Then it stops moving, but the engine keeps running just fine. I turn it off and leave it off for a minute. Turn it back on, choke it a bit and then keeps going until the next downhill.

What I else can check? Any help would be highly appreciated it!

Thanks!

I'm confused as to how then engine can simultaneously bog and keep running just fine (?). Perhaps you mean that the engine is being cycled by the starter/generator. Many guys on here think that the engine is running when it does that but it isn't, it's just being spun by the electricity from the s/g.

How sure are you that your issue is fuel related? Sounds like you've cleaned or replaced every single element of the fuel system.

"Perhaps you mean that the engine is being cycled by the starter/generator." You nailed it. Yeah, that's what it's doing, but it's not moving forward.

I'm not sure that it's the fuel system, since I've replaced pretty much everything. That's why I'm asking for suggestions. Thanks!

Well you said that the cart is "running rich" in both the title of your thread and in your first post, as if you had confirmed that to be the problem...(?)

What you need to do is find out what element of the air/fuel/spark is missing when your cart bogs down and quits firing. The next time it does that, cycle the motor as you would while starting it, and after 7-10 seconds of not starting, pull the plug and see if it's dripping wet. If it's not, you have a fuel issue.

If the plug is wet, check for spark. Pull the plug out. With it still out, pop the plug wire back on to the plug wire, grip it with a pair of insulated pliers, and hold the body of the plug against the engine block to ground it. You should hear the plug making a clicking noise and see the spark jumping across the gap.

To check for air you can just take your air cleaner assembly off and see if that changes anything, but I'm guessing that's probably not the issue (but anything's possible).

Maybe the ground speed governor is cutting the throttle back if you're going downhill to fast. just saying
