1996 DS Gas - Starter Not Turning Over
1996 DS Gas FE Engine starter not turning over.
Short solenoid battery to starter and nothing happens. Can turn Starter/Generator over by hand. Is it likely the Starter/Generator shorted ? Thanks in advance for your help Gary .... |

I have literally the same issue. Filling to see what people think. I pulled mine out and then went to back in and thought I heard a small pop and no buzzer no lights etc. battery good. Power to starter when peddle is pushed.

I had the same issue a while back checked all connections and it would work for about a week then it failed again turned starter by hand a couple rounds then it worked again. Decided to take it apart and the brushes were worn so much the brush spring would not push the brush down enough to make contact. Installed a new set of brushes cleaned the commutator. The started turns over the engine and starts better then ever.

Thanks i'm definitely replacing the brushes just as a maintenance thing. I went over all my connections yesterday. Cleaned them all including the grounds and now everything is working great!! Thanks!
