Reliance meter reads one bar. bat full charge 51.2volts, wired direct to bat bank. replace meter once still same problem

Letting them go until they read empty (which is not good, these meters are very inaccurate and halfway is already too low state of charge wise) usually means they also fail to reset back to 'full' after a recharge cycle.

We tell folks who insist on these things to charge the car after they get to 3/4 on the meter which seems to work then.

We tested the analog battery gauges which the RXV use against the handheld showing charge percentage. By the time the meter there read half or 1/4 the handheld had already logged two low battery faults and was showing 10% state of charge left.
