Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Intermittent Spark
Is your pulser generating AC volts ? If not then it is bad.
Can you get hold of another DVOM like a Fluke and test it again ? or maybe another type other than the one you have ? Don't go buying expensive parts just yet. I believe the repair manual says the resistance is 20- 25 ohms on the 200 or 300 ohm scale on the DVOM. Mine 9hp Robbins is dead on 21 ohms. I had my scale set on 200. |

I don't have a clue what that wire is connected to. It is a hot wire so maybe lights ? Tape it and you will be good.

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Intermittent Spark
I would see if I could borrow another DVOM to be sure. You also got to set the air gap on one. I set mine at .030. Have you checked it ?
Does your DVOM have a 200 scale on Ohms ? If you are getting no AC current then either it's bad or the gap is too wide open which I sort of doubt. Pulser coils are just one part of the ignition that normally don't go bad. I never installed one in 16 years working on Ezgo's but our carts were only driven on a golf course. You do know how to remove it ? Pretty easy to do. Let me know and maybe we can get you back firing. Tom |

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Intermittent Spark
I will try and test with another meter. Mine does have 200 ohms. Also, I’m not sure how to measure the gap or remove the pulser... do you think I should test the coil before I mess with the pulser? If so, what’s the best way to do it?

page 62 shows more on this. Easy to set or remove. I would have to look in my repair manual at my shop to tell you what the ohms should be on the coil. I keep a spare one which is quicker to use when testing. I am heading to work and will be back late this pm. If I don't forget I will bring my repair manual home and then I can tell you exactly how to test coil. You can probably google it and find an older post here on how to test the coil. Tom. |

Re: 1996 EZGO TXT Intermittent Spark
My running Ezgo is showing .
4.2 ohms. I set my meter to the 200 ohm setting. Did you use that setting on your meter ? |
