Default 2021 Onward - Alltrax 500 w/ Stock Motor on Hills

Hi all,

I've been doing a ton of learning and searching old posts but I haven't quite seen this question answered.

I just bought a 2021 Onward 4 seat, non-lifted, standard DC drive. The primary purpose is golf, but my wife and kids will also use it to drive around the neighborhood, go up to the park, etc. I live in a hilly neighborhood\golf course. On the flat roads I get 18-20, which is plenty, but the instant it starts up an incline the cart slows to half that if not slower. From my research it looks like upgrading to an Alltrax 500 controller and limiting to 400 amps with the stock motor may be a good start.

How much increased torque will this get me on the hills? Pure speed isn't so much of an issue as is getting to a decent uphill speed. Has anyone done this who can comment on uphill perf?

Thanks!

My cart is a 2016 but I have done this mod. Along with 2g cables and a 400 amp solenoid with the controller limited to 400 amps. It's mostly flat where I am but the torque increase was very noticeable to the point I modified the throttle setting to tone it down. I'm very pleased with the performance and I can get to about 27-28 with just me in the cart.
