Default Battery Tray rebuild/bracing?

In the process of rebuilding/replacing the corroded aluminum angle iron on the battery tray. The only proper size angle I could find is half the thickness of the original spec frame. At 1/16th, I have my doubts that this will support the weight of the batteries over time/bumpy off road use. Opinions?
I am considering 1 or 2 cross braces riveted in place to stiffen it up. Ground clearance should not be a problem after the lift kit, and I don't plan to go stump jumping with it.
Am I being paranoid, or is this bracing a good idea?

Sounds too thin to me. I am picturing them sagging and tearing out at the fasteners to the frame. Cross bracing won't add a lot of strength to keep it from sagging. You would be better served stacking a couple pieces together to double the thickness. Even better if you could add a fastener or two to join them in the middle of the span.

FYI: I just used steel to weld up a picture frame looking bracket that I dropped into mine. A good coat of paint on the frame and the bracket to limit galvanic oxidation.

I can use find 1/8" or 3/16" at Tractor Supply or most any welding shop around town. If you have one of those.

Lowes (in my area) has 1/8 X 1 1/2 angle. That is what I have been using. Fasten with 3/16 rivet.

I used the same stuff from there when I redid mine. Seems plenty beefy.
