Default Voltage on shifter of otherwise dead G9

Is there any situation where this is normal? Cart will not crank from pedal or solenoid. But I found voltage on the shift lever.

(The starter spins if I short large wires on solenoid.)

Thanks

I had a G9 in the shop years ago that had + power showing on the engine / chassis like that. It turned out to be inside the starter generator itself, shorting power to the case. There are several fuses to check (on both + and - sides) but you need to track down whatever is causing that short to the chassis first. Start disconnecting things till that + voltage goes away.

Yea that’s no bueno. I’d check the voltage regulator as well they’re known to cause all sorts of problems back feeding voltage, blowing fuses, burning up the brown ground wire, etc.

Thanks for the replys. Not out there today.
The voltage does go away when the shifter is moved from reverse.

Still digging.

Thinking the same. Switch or wire at the switch is shorted to the shifter.

Happy New Year Everyone.

Ok, I found a blown ground fuse, replaced it and the main ground cable to starter, still no joy.

Found voltage on brown wire at pedal, actually have voltage across the wires without pedal pressed. Voltage to red wire on solenoid only getting around 6 volts with pedal pressed.

I’ll start breaking down the wiring harness when I get a dry day.

Never did find how voltage was getting to shifter, but it’s gone now that I replaced ground fuse.
