Its not charging enough. That could cause it to run bad. Need to see 14 or 14.5 volts. I had one years ago that almost beat me. I thought firing problem was the issue. It would spit and sputter. Found out the voltage regulator was bad.
Unplug your the green wire at V/R and touch the green wire to ground. Not the one going in the regulator, the one going to starter/generator coming out of V/R, that's the field wire. It should charge 16 to 18 volts when you do this if regulator is bad. Try it and let us know what you show

Its also normal for the gas gauge to only show when you have the cart running. EZGO wired these that way.

The other notorious item, you just changed the carb out. If you put a cheap chinese carb on, expect difficulties. Cleaning the old OEM carb will offer better results.

Thanks. I new I had done something in the past to check the regulator, but had not looked for it yet.

I will see if she still has the old carb. Things were not right so I just ordered the $18 carb :) The plastic cap was missing from the top adjustment and the needle is bent. Any idea what the normal starting point is? Like close it and open it 1 1/2 turns?

Thanks again,
Grey

I cleaned the post and connectors with a dremmel tool next to the solenoid and put the ground from the battery there as well moving it from the cart frame.

Now it is charging close to 14 and seems to run better.

Thanks all,
Grey
