Default Emergency brake

Hello all you geniuses!

I have a strange issue. My emergency brake doesn't catch all of the time I press on it. Sometimes (actually most of the time), I have to actually go behind the floor board and put the brake on manually. I cannot seem to make this happen easily unlike every other golf cart I've driven. Is this a problem for anyone else, or am I the unlucky one? Is there apart that can be replaced easily... It's just a, for the most part, minor inconvenience.

Thanks in advance!

I had that problem on an Ezgo years ago. Turned out there was considerable wear on the the 2 pieces that made the catch. I was able to file or grind a bigger tooth to catch more reliably.

Assuming this is a TXT or medalist, First thing to check would be brake cable adjustment. If too slack, there is not enough tension on the cables to hold the latch on. Otherwise, what Scotty said. Follow the brake cables toward the middle of the cart where they connect to a compensator bracket. If this droops down, there is a turnbuckle just in front that can be adjusted to re tention the spring on the brake rod. Adjust and test a bit at a time.
