Front suspension/steering replacement questions
I purchased this EZGO TXT from a local about a year ago. I never had a cart before, so this is a trial by fire situation for me. Something breaks and I have to figure out what went wrong and fix it. This is my latest issue.
Driver's side leans lower than the passenger side - the tire scrapes when you reverse and turn - so I got under it to look at my springs. It appears that the passenger side has all sorts of issues. I see a couple of areas that could use some replacement. Anyone with more knowledge up to tell me from the pics what I should replace and consider replacing, and would these issues on the passenger side cause the driver's side to lean lower? |

Re: Front suspension/steering replacement questions
Ok, I found a manual for my 1999 electric EZGO TXT, which will help me find the right parts. If anyone needs one (the links I tried in the sticky were bad) the link is below:

Re: Front suspension/steering replacement questions
Well, first off I would have to say if you have a leaning issue it's likely weak springs since they support all of the weight on the front end. Yes, the front axle is rusty but that's to be expected since this looks like an older cart, just make sure it's still solid. While you're at it it will be worth your time to look at the entire front end for wear. Things to check include loose kingpins, tie rod ends and maybe even bearings, it would give you peace of mind anyway. Shocks are just for dampening the ride and wouldn't have anything to do with a leaning issue. It would help everybody here if you identified what model and or year of cart you have. It looks like an older maybe 80's or 90's.

Re: Front suspension/steering replacement questions
Thanks Capt. Lenny for the response. Yeah, good call on the year and type. I wasn't sure at the time but I did a lot of research after posting and it's a 1999 EZGO TXT.
I ended up ordering some new shocks and tie rods. Just got them today. I have some new springs I'm about to pull the trigger on too. Most of the forum posts I've read said that sprints are the problem, but there were other contributors. I'll look at some of those other items that you pointed out. I appreciate the input. |

Re: Front suspension/steering replacement questions
Looking at your pictures again , it looks like all your tie rod ends are a mess. They’re greased but the grease is not staying contained in the joint. Not only don’t the rubber seals seal but somebody has tie rods all out of adjustment. There a should be an equal amount of thread at both ends of the mutual adjusting link, left and right. Once you have everything assembled properly then do an alignment, 1/8” to 1/4” toe in.
