If you are building a gas cart, go get a gas rearend.

Anything is possible with enough work, but the rear ends are NOT the same. Aside from the fw/rv question, even in the 2-stroke years, the assebmly and internals have different part numbers. Either way, least work is like-for-like...question is, how much do you want to modify it.

I was thinking the same thing steveb, but I had to go home last night and check my manuals. I think even the input shaft is different.

Just a build I ran across when I was considering that type of engine transplant. I test rode an old 250SX three wheeler a couple weeks ago & felt like the driving characteristics would change how the cart drove too much for my family to deal with (shifting thru the gears, reverse lockout, etc.). I definitely think it would be more reliable than a clone transplant, maybe even a v-twin. Those old Honda are bullet proof & have a ton of torque! And it would be fun as he11 to slam gears in a cart!
