Generally salvageable if you have been getting good oiling to the valve train.
You don't have to jack the cart but you'll be surprised how much more oil will come out when you do this... it is always disappointing to add new oil and find it blackish right away from mixing with old oil left in the case. Extra effort should be made to tip the engine crankcase toward the hole... you asked for an opinion, that's my opinion.

Jacking up the cart isn't a big deal so if it will yield better results I'll certainly do it. I think I'll probably order an O-Ring for the valve cover just to be on the safe side. I think my kids will have a collective heart attack if the cart is out of service for more than a couple of hours :) Thanks again for all your help.

Just wanted to say thanks again for the help. Used all the tips to do the tune up and used the instructions I found on here to do the valve adjustment. Cart is running like a top! You guys are the best!
