Clutch tuners chime in
I have already indexed my secondary for more spring pressure before opening but as always needed a little more. The new holes in the primary weights are 3/16 with a 9/32 countersink 1/4" deep. I will match weight tomorrow but, Will this much weight removed be a noticabe difference or should I lighten the weights up some more? The cart is an 09 ST.
Thanks Tim |

Re: Clutch tuners chime in
Well fine then, Just be that way. The secondary is greatly improved while indexing to #3 hole but, Removing the slim shim "Under the thick one held down by two large phillips screws" to let the sheaves run closer together has an ill belt slipping effect. I guess the newer secondarys do not take well to the old tricks. The holes drilled in the primary weights did indeed help but not by much, I am off to pull them out for more drilling.

Those holes drill in the center of the mass will
affect low and mid shift more than top end shifting. Is the engine running at its peak horsepower. |

Yes the cart is running good, It only has close to 45-50 hours run time. I am in search of a little more low end to help spin the 24" mudlights. I have drilled the holes out to 21/64 and 13/64 and am on my way to assemble the clutch.

Re: Clutch tuners chime in
The holes will raise your engagement and running rpm
try them and see. Do you have another set in case you go to far? Can you set up a timed distance to compare. Seat of the pants that feels better is deceiving. |

Re: Clutch tuners chime in
Almost perfect. Low and mid range is MUCH better without that transbrake sudden engagement. I would like to go a bit farther but think I am right on the verge of harsh engagement and I do not want to sacrafice slow speed trail riding and rock climbing on Drummond. I am amazed how much better it climbs and accelerates now after just drilling a couple holes.
