I had an electric once that had a chunk of metal on the ring gear and I filed it out and problem solved, that had a oil pan and was easy to get to it. No such easy pan on your gas rear axle, but if you pull the yellow fill plug you might be able to see into the case and the ring gears teeth? Not sure? I don't have a gasser here to check it out now.

Good point about neutral gonna try that. Also will check to see what inside although if it was a chunk of metal I would think it would do it while it was up in the air as well.
