Bruce, actually it's not held on with a screw on a GE motor. The magnet is made onto a ring, and the ring is pressed onto the end of the armature.

i stand corrected...... does the speed sensor look like this though

the other maganets with the bolt speed sensors are a piece of cake to pull... but for this one I just reached up and pried loose so i never saw the maganet...i just assumed......

How can i prize the magnet off of a ge motor ive tried everything looks like i am going to have too remove motor

With a flathead screwdriver. It just snaps out. There's a little groove you can put it in.. Just stick it under it and twist it and it'll snap right out.
