Heavy Duty Springs Too Stiff ? Shocks ?

Read an older post on heavy duty spring install and it was mentioned that they may be too stiff for light, non off-road use . Wondering if I should go ahead and remove a leaf or two now rather than later ? Installing for rear seat . Also are rear shocks in this case really useful ? It's an old cart and they are worn out and useless I'm sure . UBOLTS - On a '87 CC does anyone know off-hand what size ? Would like to go ahead and replace them . Have received a lot of useful information on this forum and appreciate anyone's help and input .

The HD springs are very stiff. If you don't plan on having heavy folks on back you can certainly take a leaf out before installing them. I've got them on two different carts and have been thinking about taking a leaf out on both of them.

I had a 98 CC that I installed aftermarket HD springs on and found they were too stiff . . . My 06 DS has CC HD springs, and I find them to be not as stiff as the aftermarket ones, but twice the price . . .

Hey , Thanks a lot ! I'm going to take out at least one as well . After thinking about it the last two days , it wouldn't be all that hard to go back and take out a second one since those rusted bolts in the sleeves would not be a problem .

yep agree, they are super easy to modify, take a leaf or two out to get the best ride for your taste.

Yea , I'll go ahead and take one out - Don't want Mom getting a rough ride on her hiney driving the grandkids around ! Just finished taking off old seat back supports,trees and such . Of course had to have at least one rusted bolt/nut . A hand -held grinder sure did come in handy , gound that sucker right off ! If I'm able to get back to work on the front of those old springs I may just grind those bolts off too . Thank ya'll for your input !

Went ahead and took out two leafs of h/d springs . Was surprised at rear suspension difference without shocks . Seems like they do make a difference because they were not 100% wore out . Attached rear shocks and it made a huge difference ! Have ordered new ones so it should ride really good . Will replace front shocks when able . Wonder if front leaf spring needs replacing ? You know of a way to test it ? Probably would not be worth the expense anyway . Money would probably be better spent on steering since it's pretty sloppy . Thanks much for assistance .
