Cart shudders and jerks when run
Have 1998 48v DS that shudders, jerks, and makes bad sound when I try to run it. I had run the cart pretty low on the batteries and was loading it pretty hard when this started. Towed it home charged the batteries and still does it. Connections are tight, have 51v on battery pack, batteries load check good. Still does it when I jump the solenoid. I use a DPI charger for last couple of years and bypassed the OBC.

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
its either a cable issue or battery issue.....thats a classic bad battery sympton, how did you load test them? i think i would go over everything again......check every cable make sure all are clean and tight even cables going to motor also might want to check for resistance in each cable make sure you don,t have a bad one.................................

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
I have one of the hand held battery load testers that cost about $40. Seems to work ok? Will take all cableing off and clean.
Thanks |

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
A handheld load tester is okay for cars but doesn't put near the load on that a golf cart motor will.
Try this. Attach the handheld meter to the battery pack, not the reading and then tell us what it drops to when you try to go.....and the cart shudders. Don't shudder much, it's bad for the solenoid. |

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
It will give a lot more accurate reading than a typical 50amp hand held.

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
Will do that and let yall know. Hope the problem is a battery or cabeling. Replaced them 2 years ago so they arent that old. Use the cart on a farm and it gets some tough duty.

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
When you replaced them, where did you get them, at the auto parst store? or cables for a golf cart?, and like said before, it sounds like some bad batteries

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
Have you ever added water to the batteries or checked them lately? (distilled water only) Sounds like a dumb question but you'd be surprised.

Re: Cart shudders and jerks when run
When I replaced the batteries with trojans and made up my onw cables with heavy duty hardware. I do keep them hydrated with distilled water, they are too expensive not to take care of!
