Hi all! I asked earlier if anybody had been able to modify a stock G2 exhaust for better flow. No feedback as of yet. Mine is almost new, and I,de rather modify it than lay our $200 for a new one. Anyone done that or should I just sell it and buy an aftermarket. Your input is muchly appreciated. HEK

One guy did cut one apart and cutup the tail pipe, then he doubled the piping inside with pieces of the tail pipe added in to there. He said it was a little louder and worked better. Personally you can do that, or just mount some other muffler on there. People have used ATV and motorcycles mufflers as well as lawn mufflers. You can try a generator muffler if you want quiet. Or I was thinking of using two stock mufflers on my clone. So far I like the car muffler we will see. It was easier to pipe.

I'm not about to disagree with anything these guys have written, but there are a few questions you should answer before jumping into the fray. What do you want to do with your cart? All out trail riding? Cruising the street? A simple work horse on a small lot? A hunting buggy? Or a show rig? What you should do really depends on what you want out of your cart. If you are cruising the street you probably don't want a super-loud muffler - especially if you are trying to stay under the local law enforcement radar! Same consideration for a hunting rig -- hard to sneak around with the equivalent of cherry bombs or glass-packs! Every change you make on your cart should be done with the wanted result in mind.
Have fun, and welcome!

Sorry -- I wasn't trying to make you look bad. In fact, the advice you all gave was GREAT -- just too soon.

Thanks for muffler responses, especially Trobadour! So far I have bought and installed a 4in lift, 20+11+8 wheels and a K&N air filter. My plan was to also do a rear torque spring, and maybe a cut sheeve, a larger carb jet, and a better flowing muffler. I,ve always believed that if you add more air/fuel going in then you should open up exhaust to get it out. My goal for this cart is to make it more efficient and with more low end power, Not necessarily more speed. Although I have been thinking about maybe adjusting or bypassing the governor( that just seems to be free power?). I have only owned this cart for 3 weeks, and have only driven it once on the street before I bought it. My planned use is to putt around the dirt roads when camping with my 2 labs, haul a little wood for the fire and maybe take my brother and his wife for a ride occasionally. No racing, no steep hill climbing, no mud bogging, did all that when I was younger. So any input as how to help me achieve my stated use goals for this fun unit, are and will continue to be, very much appreciated! There seems to a wealth of useful knowledge out there and I am eager to share in it. HEK

I have a G2 and two G9s so I have a bit of experience and some knowledge I have gleaned from this group, but I'm not nearly the expert or mechanic that some of these guys have!
I use my main G9 (which is essentially identical to the 2) for running around the ranch, chasing cows at round-up time (this next weekend!), checking fences, working on irrigation lines, taking donkeys for walks, hauling a few bales of hay (60-80 lbs each), hauling supplies and tools, etc ... as well as pleasure cruising the gravel roads and trails around my place.
First thing I have done with each of my carts is bypassing the governor. I don't run all out and I am the only one who drives so I don't worry much about floating the valves, but that is a consideration if others might borrow your cart.
So far I haven't found the need to re-jet the carb or change the exhaust, though I might do that on one of my carts when I decide I won't take it into crowds or onto city streets. I like the quiet putt of a stock system.
Two of my carts have cheap 4" econo-lifts - one has 22x11x10s all around, one has 22x11x10s on the back and 20x10x10s on the front (22s on the front rub unless you do some "adjusting" on the fenders). The G2 has stock 8" with pretty aggressive tread on the front and 20x10x10s on the rear -- with no lift but a little trimming on the rear fenders for clearance.
The 9 with 22s all around has a thicker spring for a bit more low-end power but still (eventually) can hit just over 30mph according to my hand-held GPS. I only did that twice just to check. The others aren't that fast as I haven't adjusted the throttle cables for a more fuel. For speed the throttle cable can/should be adjusted both at the pedal and at the carb.
Others will chime in now and correct me, I'm sure. And their corrections are welcome as I need to learn more where I'm wrong.

I can understand wanting a golf cart for those exact reasons. That's what the Donkey is for. It pulls my trailers around the yard, has a removable winch, bed for hauling, lift kit and taller tires for clearence over bad terrain while camping. That cart is all about low end torque and not speed. Hence the name Donkey.
For height refference my friend Mike in that pic is 6'3. I built my own Pachanga lift it has 24" tires, grabbed the bed off another G2 I picked up for $125, I installed the Carts Parts Plus torque spring and performance jet. I don't have any complaints about it. It isn't the fastest cart out there. But we GPS'd it and it does the exact same speed up the hill I live on with just me on it or when we have a 22' flat bed trailer on the back.
