Default How Much Oil and What Kind - Subaru 11HP

I am changing the oil in my 2008 EZGO ST Sport II. It has the 11HP Subaru in it that has the triangle shaped oil filter. I adjusted the governor so I was told I should put a good synthetic in it. Please share the specifics on what you use? Specifically Brand ?W? and the amount needed. I don't have a service manual.

Thanks for your help!!!

Your going to get a bunch of responses on just what type of oil to run but any decent oil will work. I use Valvoline 30W. Motor calls for 1.5 qts but I usually put in just shy of that because I don't get all of it out. I personally don't run pure synthetic because I want some residue left behind..

KG is right - as long as it's a good quality oil (and You change it a couple of times a year) basically just go with 1.5 qts of 30w. Unless You're in a wildly-changing climate (of which Mobile definitely does NOT qualify, LOL) then no need for a multi-viscocity like 10w30, etc

Between November and February temperatures in my hunting area North of Mobile fluctuate between 90 degrees and 15 degrees. I think it was 17 degrees for 5 straight days last year and the coldest days will hopefully be the days I use the cart the most, hunting! The local Advanced Auto Parts did not have 30W so I got Mobil One Synthetic 10W30. Will that work well?

Yep - I assumed WE were the only ones that have that temperature range, heck this is Wisconsin, You could have just described any given day from March through November, LOL (It's just a bazillion below the rest of the year) ... Although there have been 2 years since I started riding again in '95 that I've had the bike out on New Years day and it's been in the 60's.

They always say "It's Wisconsin, if You don't like the weather, stick around for an hour"

10W30 fine - Mobil One good

Point Made - this was late September a few years ago, I parked by the front door about 7PM, went to work, and by the time I got home at 3AM, there was already too much snow to take her up to the Pole Barn ... By morning, well a picture tells 1000 words:

What size bolt holds in the oil filter? See photo. I tried every size I own and nothing fits it. Does the number 4 on bolt head mean anything? I couldn't find it listed in the parts manual.
