Default 1996 club car idles but will not go.

Hello, I have a 1996 gas club car. When I push the pedal it will idle but the clutch will not engage. The problem is that sometimes it works completely fine and sometimes it will not engage. It also seems to start better when I push and hold the throttle in about an eighth of the way and hold it there. I have cleaned the carb, and lines and put a new spark plug in but still nothing. Any ideas? Maybe the igniter?

So assuming that by idle.... the starter generator is running but the cart never really is starting.

The rev limiter, igniter, and coil all effect spark.. So to verify that it is a spark problem or not, run to auto zone and pick up a inline spark tester. (5-10 bucks)

Next time this happens place it in service mode toss on spark tester and see if it is generating a spark.

Have you tried choking it to see if that helps?

I had the same thing happen. You can see my old thread for tips.

But basically the 3rd time I cleaned and then.... I fed some seafoam straight through the throttle body for a good couple minutes.... that ran it and cleaned it right out
