volr reg by pass
can anyone tell me how to bypass the voltage regulator on a yamaha G5 so the generatowll put full output into battery.

This was covered in an earlier post and I'm repeating my answer here:
Jumping the green wire to the bat. neg. will result in a "full field" condition. This means that your generator will be putting out the maximum current and voltage it is capable of! This is not a good thing for either your generator or the battery. I wouldn't recommend "full fielding" your charging system for any longer than 1 min. or so as it will cook your battery and overheat the generator. This procedure is usually used only to test the voltage regulator and generator. Hope this helps - RAY |
