Default spark}{no spark Help please

I got my 90 G2 running today but took so long, I parked it and tryed to restart but nothing it would just spit and spit, I took the plug out and cleaned it and instead of putting back in I hooked coil wire on it and layer on cylinder to retry and see if it had any spark, now here is the problem and hopefully I can get pointed in right direction, if I press the gas peddle I get about 2 sparks then nothing, same each time and only way I can get more then that I have to rapidly tap on the gas peddle, hopefully Im looking at an easy fix but right now Im just frustrated and can't think, anyone know,,,,,
Thanks..

To start with, make very sure plug has a tight ground to block when checking for spark,(blow tci this way-$140.) Need to buy "dynamic spark tester" at auto store.

Start looking for corroded electrical connections, especially ground connections. This era of cart uses an open/closed ground ignition.(Smallblock). So ground connections are critical.

My personal opinion is, dirt is a major enemy of any electrical system on any car. I go to lengths to make sure all connections are clean, solid and water tight.
I've wired a few sand rails and race cars, thirty yrs ago, and they are still running on my wire harness.

Well this morning I checked for spark and had good spark so I put plug back in and got it running but not to good, tryed to restart and nothing again pulled plug and back to 1-2you sparks when I press the gas peddle unless I rapidly tap on gas peddle the spark is more,
Unless an easy fix come up I will have to think about this over the winter and make a decision, if it is the little electrical box and gonna run me $140-$150 I might just put a Brigs engine on for now till I can go big block because who knows if there might be even more wrong and cost me even more to get this engine running, I will be doing alot of thinking before I do and hope for a that easy fix,, lol..

I decided to tinker with the G2 today and see if I could figure the spark issue out, well it had good spark again so I am just baffled within h that, but this time it would re fire each time I tryed it so I decided to take it for a little ride around the house, now I have another thing work out, I seen while driving around it has a bad mis just don't think its a plug problem though but I will try that first, it dose sound as if it has a burnt or bent valve though, just wonder if this is a common problem or issue or what else it could be, I guess if no one has any advise I might just as well pull the engine tare it down to chevy it all out,

Need to do a compression check. Need around 165 pounds. Then take cover off clutch and look for broken weights.

Also check pedal switch for continuity, as well as connections to it. Spray wd40 into switch.

Thanks Mike Mac I will, compression checking will be the easy part, I have never had a clutch apart but I have looked at threads on them for the rebuilds and even removal of a clutch.

Not hard to remove the cover, should be 6 small screws on cover. Look for a weight to be out of place or broken. That can cause poor running conditions. Might give each clutch a pump of grease in each zirk, one on each clutch.

Murf, do all maint. you can on the car. Do all you can do before you spend any money. Has to be done anyway. Check air filter, replace spark plug. fresh gas, oil in motor and tranny. Read this whole Yamaha site. You will learn tons.

Im all for that the less money I have to spend the better, I pretty much got it for nothing just the gas to go and pick it up so putting some into it wont be bad,
not sure if this would be part of the problem but just remembered he told me he had put fuel stabilizer in it for the winter,
I might as well change it all, gas, oils; plug and filters and start from there, but I will still check the compression and clutch as well,, thanks again..

Murf, put up some pictures. How did you get it? Was it running for the other owner? and how long ago. Definitely dump that stuff and put fresh gas in.

Ok I will take some more pictures tomorrow and post them, the fiberglass body is in decent shape just rough from previous owners repairs on rear, I picked it up last Thursday, I seen an add on Craigslist for it and he wanted $800 or possible trade so I offered him a couple things I had laying around and he took it, the things I traded I had given to me so I think I made out good, when I got there to pick it up he told me it ran and got it running for me to hear but it took us a bit to get it running, just glad it did cuz we would have had a hard time getting on the truck, ..
