cdi unit, pulser coil
Hello everybody, is the pulser coil the same as the cdi unit? And does a 81, g1 have a pulser coil? I know i have a cdi unit on mine, thanks.

Under the flywheel are two coils: a charge coil and a pulser coil. The charge coil produces the voltage used to fire the ignition coil. The pulser coil is the trigger signal to switch this voltage on and off at the appropriate times. The CDI control box contains the electronic components needed to store the voltage from the charge coil and process the signals from the pulser coil to fire the ignition coil at the correct time.
The charge and pulser coils are inside the engine, under the flywheel. The ignition coil is mounted externally on the engine and has the large high voltage wire that goes to the sparkplug. The CDI control box is mounted on the right rear fender. |
