What year's for 2 stroke Yamaha

A friend told me about a cart for sale today but he didn't know what year or model. He said it was a 2 stroke and the rear body lifted up to get to the engine instead of lifting the seat. It's been outside but covered up and hasn't run in several years. He's asking $400.00 for it, sounds like a bit much to me.

My question is what year and model could this be?

2 stroke Yamahas were G1 models ... from '79 to 86 or so. Nothing wrong with them as a model. Depends on the condition and what you intend to do with it. Local markets vary all over the country ---- what is the market like in your area?

If it's complete it might be worth it if the condition is decent. If it's missing parts, broken body panels, rusty underneath, then I would pass. These things are hard to get parts for sometimes. If you are mechanically inclined these can be fun to work on though.
