Baken's G1 Build
Hello All! This site has been a great inspiration to turn my stock G1 into something a little more capable. I started by finding a pair of 22x11-8 Kenda Scorpions on Craigslist, mounted. I realized I would need a good size lift to accommodate, but I really didn't want to go that route. So I started looking at hacking away frame to make them fit. The battery box and gas tank got moved 2" forward. The rear mounting-point for the body had to be changed to make clearance. The front floor-board would have to be cut out. Bumpers, they go too. And I wasn't crazy about the look of the front end fiberglass, so I decided on total custom.

Re: Baken's G1 Build
Ok, not a lot of progress, but I have primer and have started to top-coat with truck-bed liner, in-a-can. Should have it back together by the end of the week, fingers crossed. A few more pics and a youtube vid, warning the sound is loud. More updates to come...

Nice job! I like the front end bodywork. Looks like you might have a compartment up there? Good idea. You've really spend alot of hours on it. Can't wait to see more progress. Keep the pics coming.

Re: Baken's G1 Build
Well, I am mostly done for now! I have more time into this project than I ever expected to put in, but it is worth it! Inner fender pics, notice the zip-ties hold the fenders close as they can be to avoid tire rub. Eventually, the rear wheels will be offset to add more clearance.

Re: Baken's G1 Build
I screwed the floor-pans back in with self-tappers, and lay the old mat back in. The dash is aluminum with a little art-grind to jazz it up.
