Flip flop towing
My wife got me one of the best valentines day gifts ever, a flip flop seat for our g14. My question is there is a reciver hitch that bolts to the rear step how much will that hold safely or has anyone towed like this before

Re: Flip flop towing
I would say not much. Your gonna bend the frame if you get to rough with it!
I have one, and have pulled about 600# with it, but very gently! |

Re: Flip flop towing
I built one and it will tow anything the cart will pull, once pulled a 19' boat with a v8 also a heavy empty car hauler it had a lot of weight on the hitch. It tends to lift the front of the cart up if heavy. But that is stock power too, I hauled a 16' and 17' 'glass boat around a lot but only go 15mph or so and also pulled them out of a lake.
The hitch I made is simple it just bolts to the frame and to the bumper, I have a photo would have to dig it out. Its just a 3/8 x 2" bar or similar and angle iron for brackets to bolt it on frame. In fact one side is a ball the other side is a hole for yard stuff....it might be wider than 2" not sure. I also put a loop of 1/2 square under it, is very handy for tie down or towing with a strap/rope. Now if you go big block and can tow more, you want to factor that. Fact is stock power can't pull hard its a matter of not getting too much weight on the hitch is all. I can tell you the rear frame on a G2/9 is not really that strong, I've seen people hit trees with the rear bumper and bend the entire rear in. Its because the frame goes up to the shock mounts then back down to the bumper and it bends there. But I think you need impact to do that, my cart will lift the front tires off the ground with a load in the box which is mostly on the frame under the bagwell. It does attach on the seat risers, unless that makes the frame stronger to tie it in I don't know. The box frame is 1x1 steel, and of the G2/9s around me nobody tows/hauls what I do lol. I do take it easy I don't want to break the axle or something. |
