Default BBQ'd the Muffler, how do you get the leftovers out?

Title says it all. Cooked the muffler, whole bunch of black ash and junk inside. What is the best way to get the ashes/junk out? Is there an "easy" way?

Thanks

On mine I shook the loose stuff out and then drug my air hose from my compressor outside and spent some time blowing through it both directions until I no longer got any ash out.
