Default Upgrade to 48V requires field map change?

Hello! Need some preventative advice. I have a 2004 EZ Go with an Alltrax 500 controller, 36v solenoid, proper pre-charge resistor & diode, 4 gauge wire and a DE2-4007 motor from EMP (LOVE IT!!) with high speed banding of the armature completed. My question is this: Should I want to upgrade to 48V (batteries, charger, solenoid, resistor, diode) will my motor handle the additonal voltage without frying and/or will the field map have to be changed to accomodate the upgrade in voltage? Thanks!!

That would be a really good question to ask the guys at EMP. They'll know better than anyone what that motor will take.

Thanks for the reply Dougmcp, I was beginning to wonder if I had bad breath or something! I am planning to call them but thought someone on here might know the answer without me bugging them. Thanks again!

I'm sure the motor will probably handle the 48v upgrade, but once again the guys at EMP know better as they were the ones that wound it.
You will also need some way to charge 48v.

The motor should handle it fine. I would call them for insurance and piece of mind though. The controller should be fine also if it will handle 48 volts it shouldn't matter what voltage it is. As long as everything stay's the same except for the voltage that is.

Thanks again guys. I'm stuck in a hotel down in Charleston, SC at the moment and am going to go back through the logs to see if I can find any other helpful hints! Really appreciated!!!
