Default Rpm help

Have an 85 club car with stock KF82. rebuilt the top end and have everything pretty well adjusted and runs pretty well. It will do 14MPH according to my gps but wanting to see what kind of RPM i'm running. Any cheap way to check what kind of rpm i'm running?

thanks

I installed one of these (but not on eBay) in my engine compartment; current and max rpm, hourmeter... handy for maintenance of the engine.

It works on battery; I installed it 2 years ago and never changed yet.

I am sure you can find it cheaper...

Runleader and Searon both make ones that are nice and around $15-20 get great reviews sold all over ebay and amazon and other online shops to :)

i was looking at the inductive models that work with 1 cylinder engines !!

So I got a timing light with rpm on it. Should I use two cycle or 4? Does anyone know if the spark plug fires every revolution with obviously one of the sparks being useless? I’m thinking the engine is turning to fast. Any help much appreciated. Don’t really want to buy a tach as I don’t need one after it’s set.

its a 4 cycle... separate oil and gas, 2 cycles usually have oil gas mixture as one.

and does it have a setting or calc on cylinders ?? this setting helps is calculate RPM vs spark ignition. if not then you may have some math to do :)

yes i understand it is a four stroke engine but from what i understand the spark plug sparks every revolution of the crank even though one of the sparks does nothing.

good question, not sure how these Kawasaki's do it

i have a small hand held tach that you put a piece of reflective tape on the pulley and then the tach picks that up and gives you a number. nice little deceive, use it on my 1929 to set idle. less than $20 and works great, played with it on my ceiling fans, and anything that spins/ rotates :)

Digital Photo Laser Tachometer Non Contact Tach RPM Meter

You are correct, it fires on the compression stroke and the exhaust stroke
