92 EZ GO Gas Marathon STarter not getting power
I have a 92 EZ GO Marathon Gas Powered golf cart. All of a sudden it is not getting power to the starter to crank. I have checked all the relays and replaced the ignition, voltage regulator, and solenoid. Still no power to the starter. I dont see any broken wires and have removed and inspected all contacts. The fuse is still good. If I use a jumper wire the starter works, but its just not getting power.
Should the large terminal on the solenoid be getting 12 volts ( the one not connected to the battery )? Any help would be appreciated. My next step is to either have it troubleshot by a professional or replace the ignitor ( as a guess ). Thanks so much in advance! |

Re: 92 EZ GO Gas Marathon STarter not getting power
The ignitor will have nothing to do with your cranking issue. Make sure 1 small terminal on your solenoid is grounded good and the other will have 12v with the pedal depressed. This should cause it to crank. Is the replacement solenoid a golf cart replacement or an automotive? This may be where your problem is It may be fried. A quick test would be use a jumper wire direct from the battery + to the small non grounded post on the solenoid and see if it cranks. Caution remove the drive belt while working on your cart for safety.WELCOME to BGW

Thanks for replying!
The solenoid is new from a golf cart shop here in town. Thanks for ruling out the ignitor, that def helps. I will make sure the solenoid is grounded...thanks again |

Re: 92 EZ GO Gas Marathon STarter not getting power
Well, that was right. When I grounded one of the small terminals the starter turned over. I had to unplug the black and white wire coming from the ignitor though...I wonder where that wire should go? The starter is not getting enough power to run the cart.
