Think this will work?
I was going to order a solenoid from our site sponsor (on eBay), but delivery is projected on the 31st. I want to work on the cart this weekend.

Re: Think this will work?
No sir, it will not ... You need what's known as a "constant-duty" solenoid (such as used in snowplow controls, etc)
Try a local tractor supply, or possibly call Advance Auto and see if they carry one of that type (I would bet they do, but their web-interface won't let me search for non-specific parts that aren't for the cars I have stored in my folder) |

Re: Think this will work?
Well, called them and they said they only have three pronged ones. Call the John Deer place down the road and they say they have no clue unless I can give them a JD part #....

Re: Think this will work?
Try asking for a solenoid for a snowplow (4 terminal) - those are 12v and constant-duty (they were rarely used in cars, so that's prob why you're running into troubles)

Re: Think this will work?
call NAPA - You need a Prestolite 15-316 ... Also, try "continuous" duty instead of "constant" (that's how most of the parts catalogs/computers will list them, just in case you get someone on the phone without a clue)
