It is a standard G1 engine.

Re: 1981 Yamaha G1 2 cycle Project
Looks like a stock Yamaha 215cc engine to me.

Re: 1981 Yamaha G1 2 cycle Project
It is best to remove it but disconnecting all the hoses and plugging the line where it injects in the engine would be fine.

Re: 1981 Yamaha G1 2 cycle Project
I hope this helps:
Definitely standard G1 motor. I believe you can buy a new voltage regulator. Look online a bit. King of Carts is a site sponsor and has tons of stuff. I painted my cart with Rustoleum rattle-can paint. I used the "Ultra-Cover 2X" primer and paint. Depending on your skill, you can get a decent paint job out of it. While paint job is NOT up to body-shop quality, I am very pleased with it and the $60 cost. I primed, painted, polished with polishing compound, and waxed/buffed. Link to my post: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...yamaha-g1.html Also look at sticky for G1 carts - most useful information! |

Thanks a million ewbldavis. Your cart looks great. I'll send pics when I'm doing the paint.
Thank you to everyone for all your support. |

Re: 1981 Yamaha G1 2 cycle Project
Just a update. I had stock 4.8 - 8 tires on and wanted a little fatter tire. I thought about the 5.7 - 8 but took a shot in the dark and got the 16.5-6.5-8 Tires and rims. As you can see from the pics I have enough play without any spacers. I am using these on the back end for right now. What do you think?
