Default G1 suspension issues- offroad use...

Hello all, thanks to this forum I was able to install a bravo motor into my g1 that I purchased off craigslist. and for the record you need to swap the stator over from the old g1 motor. Anyways, I got it to run great. I use it to climb this hill on my property at the lake. It has enough power but yesterday it started rubbing. Its got a 5 or 6 inch lift kit on it. Looks like previous owner just welded metal brackets to extend it. The suspension looks unmodified. When I hit bumps the tire/knuckle pushes back rubbing against the frame on the pass front. I raised it up and have massive play in basically everything. I was wondering if I should buy the stock knuckle, tension bar, tie rods, and upgrade the springs from ebay or if their is a site that I can buy a little beefier stuff. I am on a budget. I dont need some 500$ suspension. let me know what you guys are thinking.

Eric, I don't know anything about G1's. But safety is the biggest concern on a lift kit. Most people use Jake's lift kits here. Safe, strong and reliable!! About $300. I think.

Also, my personal opinion here, but I'd stay away from ebay. Chinese stuff for sure.

Venders on here will be your best quality and price.

I already have a lift kit on it, I just need to beef up suspension.

It all cost money........ You can go cut rate when replacing steering parts but I'd save up if need be and replace it with good stuff. Even if you have too purchase all new suspension parts. Safety is the main thing.

I'd think about a shock change as well.

I'm building a G1 at present and did the 400EX shocks on the front. All my other suspension components seem to be good, but if they prove not too be, I'll replace them and not cut corners.

I dont really want to spend big money on it... I didnt spend much on the cart or the swap and I know cutting corners.... so what are you guys using for your suspension components. Maybe I will spend a little bit... So far I got 400ex shocks.

Best cheap way is find a cheap front off an atv, you can get nice front brakes in the deal too. Of course you need a way to fab it onto the cart. Better yet is do that with a steering rack is what I want to do, a rack from another cart or buggy.

I second this. Did it. Love it. The G1 suspension is a flawed design to start with, so trying to improve it is almost impossible. You can lift it and wheel it, but it will never handle like an atv/utv or dune buggy unless you scrap the single a arm setup.

If you are on a budget, I'd keep what you got and just replace what's worn out. You can find used parts here and on fleabay. Make a list of what you need and post it in the parts section.
