Default G22 - Output Shaft Replacement Help

I need some help from those of you that may have more experience than me with the transmission in my G22 gas cart.

I had a whining noise coming from the transmission anytime I was off the throttle, such as going down a steep hill. I determined it was coming from the Input Shaft area and decided to replace the input shaft, outside bearing and seal. I removed the spring & ball, cover and replaced all the worn parts without too much difficulty.

Now I'm having trouble getting the case cover back in place that covers the input shaft and holds the outer bearing and seal. I have the gear selector in forward and as best I can tell, everything seems to be lined up properly. The cover just seems to bind about 1/2" before sealing against the other case side.

Do any of you folks with experience with these Dana transmissions know of any secrets to try on this or something I may not have thought about?

Any help is appreciated,

Easy Mac! I resemble that. I mean resent that.

I'm not a total derelict. I'm a work in progress.
